BEAUTY AND THE BEAST TV Series Coming to ABC
Disney wants to continue the success it has had with its new show Once Upon A Time. Deadline reports that ABC has ordered a pilot for Beauty and the Beast. The drama is being written by Jericho co-creator Jonathan E. Steinberg. The project is described as "a period/fantastical reimagining of the classic fairy tale set in a mythical, dangerous world wherein a beautiful and tough Princess discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast."
Beauty and the Beast would be a companion show for Once Upon A Time in the Sunday 9 PM slot. Both shows will feature classic Disney characters like Snow White, Prince Charming, Belle, and the Beast. Steinberg will serve as exec producer of Beauty and the Beast with Mojo Films’ Gary Fleder and Mary Beth Basile for ABC Studios. This is a completely different pilot than the recently announced CW reboot of Beauty And The Beast, the 1980s series starring Linda Hamilton.
The combination of these two shows makes a lot of sense to me. What are your thoughts on this news?
