STAR TREK 2 - DOCTOR WHO's Noel Clarke Joins Cast

Noel Clarke has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel. Variety is reporting that the British actor-director has joined franchise newcomers Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Clarke currently can be seen on BBC's hit series Doctor Who. Paramount plans to release the highly-anticipated sequel on May 17, 2013.

Not much is known about his role at this time, but the report states that Clarke is going to play "a family man with a wife and young daughter." The film will be directed by Abrams based on a script by

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci,

and

Damon Lindelof.

Clarke marks the third British actor in the cast, including both Eve and

Simon Pegg

. Clarke penned and co-starred in

Kidulthood

(which can be seen on Netflix). He then went on to write, direct and star in its 2008 sequel,

Adulthood

. He also wrote, directed, produced and starred alongside Emma Roberts in the heist film

4.3.2.1.

Clarke also starred in

Neil Marshall

's

Centurion

and the

Andy Serkis

-starring

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll

.

I think Clarke is a solid addition to the cast, and can not wait to learn more about this film. I know it is a long way off, but

Star Trek 2

is one movie I am excited to see. What are your thoughts?
