Kevin Smith Tweets Updates on HIT SOMEBODY

Movie Hit SomebodyKevin Smith by

Kevin Smith tweeted some updates about his next film today. Not much is known about the upcoming hockey comedy Hit Somebody, other than it was supposed to be split up into two movies. Last we heard, Smith was currently writing the script for the first film.

Now it looks as though Smith has changed his mind. He revealed that he now plans on making Hit Somebody “one big movie”, and that it will have a running length of about 150 minutes. He has now completed the first script and is in the middle of writing the second script. Once that is finished, he plans to combine them and hopefully start shooting in June 2012 to premiere at Sundance in 2013.

Here are some of Smith's tweets from his feed at @ThatKevinSmith thanks to /Film:
Via @pezwright “when do you start shooting Hit Somebody?” June, I’m thinking. Writing script two, but now gonna make one big movie instead.

That got the ball rolling. Someone then followed up:

Via @VideoETA “Any guess as to TRT of the big version of HIT SOMEBODY? 150 minutes?” Max, w/ credits. I’m more of an editor than director…

On why he decided to go back to one movie:

VIa @sonic43 “back to 1 big movie with Hit Somebody. I prefer it” Makes more sense, anyway: the movie’s about taking one, good shot.

And, finally, back to the Twitter user who started it:

Via @pezwright “Damn, was looking forward to the two parter. I assume a 2013 release then?” Looking to debut at Sundance 2013. Minus Phelps.
There was no update on whether or not this will definitely be Smith's last film. I, for one, hope not, because I was not too pleased with Red State and would like to see more from him as a director. What are your thoughts on this news?
