Disney's MALEFICENT To Be Directed by Robert Stromberg

Movie DisneyMaleficent by Joey Paur

Tim Burton was originally supposed to direct Disney's Angelina Jolie film Maleficent, but he ended up not officially attaching himself to the project for one reason or another. The studio is still moving forward with the live-action Sleeping Beauty adaptation and has hired visual effects artist Robert Stromberg to take on the challenge. This will be Stromberg's first time directing a feature film, but he has worked on films such as Shutter Island, The Road, Tropic Thunder, There Will Be Blood, Pan's Labyrinth, Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, and a ton of other movies.

Jolie is set to play Maleficent in the movie, and it's a great role that she should be awesome in! The movie has previously been described as "a re-telling of the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty, this time told from the vantage point of the evil witch." This is a fun movie concept, and I would have loved to see what Burton had planned for it. It looks like we'll see another person's vision for the story, and we have no idea what that vision will look like.
