The story for the film was inspired by the popular Extremis comic storyline, which follows a nano-tech threat. It's also been described as a “technological crisis thriller,” that's set in the world of international war, arms and terror. It stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Andy Lau, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, Sir Ben Kingsley and, of course, Jon Favreau.
