NBC Passes on THE MUNSTERS Reboot MOCKINGBIRD LANE

TV by Joey Paur

Looks like Bryan Fuller's new TV series Mockingbird Lane won't be moving forward as a series at NBC. I was actually kind of looking forward to seeing how this series turned out. I'm a fan of Fuller's previous work like Dead Like Me and Pushing Daises.

Bryan Singer (Superman Returns) directed the pilot episode for the series, which was based on the 1960's TV series. The story follows a family of monsters that consists of vampires, werewolves, Frankenstein, and their normal cousin (Wakefield). I guess the NBC brass just didn't like the pilot that was shot.

Jerry O'Connell played Herman Munster, described as a great dad and devoted husband. He is married to Lily, who was played by Portia De Rossi, a vampire, with whom he has fathered a 10-year-old boy named Eddie (Mason Cook). Herman works at a funeral home, and worries that Eddie’s transformation into a werewolf and burgeoning awareness of his family’s origins will crush the boy’s spirit. Eddie Izzard plays Grandpa in the show.

We might not be seeing Mockingbird Lane anytime soon, but Fuller is also working on the serial killer Hannibal Lecter series for NBC which already has a 13-episode commitment.
