Trailer for the Fantastic Teen Indie Comedy THE FIRST TIME

TrailerMovie Comedy by Joey Paur

The first trailer has been released for a fun indie teen coming-of-age comedy called The First Time. I saw the film at Sundance earlier this year, and I thought it was great. Even though it was one of my favorite films at the festival, I know it's not a movie for everyone. A film I would compare it to would be Can't Hardly Wait, so if you liked that movie then there's a chance you'll enjoy The First Time

Here's the Synopsis:

Dave (O'Brien) is a high school senior who spends most of his time pining away over a girl he can't have. Aubrey (Robertson), a junior with artistic aspirations, has a hot boyfriend who doesn't quite understand her or seem to care. Dave and Aubrey meet one night at a party. A casual conversation sparks an instant connection, and, over the course of a weekend, things turn magical, romantic, complicated and funny as Aubrey and Dave discover what it's like to fall in love for the first time. Director/screenwriter Jonathan Kasdan skillfully captures a moment of adolescence that rings resolutely true.

Here's what Ben had to say in his review for the film,

The movie is undoubtedly a teen sex comedy, and in the wave of post-Superbad films that fill the genre, it can be tough to separate one film from others in the pack. The First Time stands out thanks to excellent performances from its leads, Britt Robertson and Dylan O'Brien. Robertson is magnetic, a beautiful actress who imbues her character with a sense of realism that makes her all the more likeable. Manic Pixie Dream Girl she is not; she feels like someone you knew in high school. This is star-making work from her, and though she's been around in the TV world for a few years, with a performance as compelling as this one I can't imagine a successful film career being too far away. O'Brien is also enjoyable, playing a guy who has seen too many romantic movies and who believes all of the lovey dovey stuff that goes along with them.

The movie doesn't have a release date yet, but when it comes out, if you like what you see in the trailer you, should definitely check it out!
