RZA Set to Direct Genghis Khan Biopic and NO MAN'S LAND

Movie by Joey Paur

Hip-hop producer and Wu-Tang Clan frontman RZA has completed his first feature film project, The Man With the Iron Fists, which is set to be released this coming Friday. It looks like he's ready to make filmmaking his new thing as he just signed on to direct an epic biopic based on Mongolian emporer and warrior Genghis Khan. Oh yeah! He's also signed on to direct an action-thriller called No Man's Land.

The Genghis Khan biopic has been trying to get made for years. The script comes from John Milius (Apocalypse NowRed Dawn). He was set to direct it at one point, and Mickey Rourke was attached to star. "Khan, one of the great military figures in world history, is the ruler who united the Mongol tribes and conquered great parts of Asia and Eastern Europe in the early 13th century. The story will be told from the point of view of Khan’s son and grandson." The movie is prepping up for production and will shoot in China next year.

No Man's Land will be RZA's next movie, and comes from screenwritters Trey Ellis and David Klass. The movie "centers on a man who steals a powerful criminal's diamond that soon proves to be far more valuable than initially thought. With the help of a dancer, he attempts to stay alive and cash in on the jewel. The story takes place during one night and has been described as having echoes of The Warriors."

I have yet to see RZA's first movie, but it must be decent if he's already lining up multiple new directing gigs! What do you think about RZA taking on Genghis Khan and No Man's Land? Could RZA end up being a big time sought after director?
