Guillermo del Toro Gives Update on the HULK TV Series
Even though the The Hulk TV series was announced before Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D. series it's taking a little bit longer to move into development. S.H.I.E.L.D. is already starting to cast, but the Hulk series is currently at a stand still. According to Guillermo del Toro, the reason the series is slow moving is because they are still waitng for a certain writer to become available so it can be re-written.
Right now all I know is the official word I was given is that there’s a writer they want. They are very interested in me meeting with him. He’s very, very busy. The official word is we are holding, but I don’t know… After 'Avengers' having the success it had, perhaps the fate of the project may change. Right now officially what I know – and I’m not hiding anything off the record or anything – is that we were told we were waiting for this writer, and we were going to do it with him.
I'm curious to find out who this writer is that they are waiting on. He must be pretty damn good to wait this long. The filmmaker goes on to talk about other superheroes he'd like to bring to life,
[T]he superheroes I like and that I would like to get involved with are all monsters. Be it Swamp Thing, Etrigan [the Demon], Doctor Strange – which is not a monster, but [a dark fantasy]. Certainly supernatural. I would love Morbius [the Living Vampire], Blade – they have to be monsters for me to be involved.
I'm excited to see Del Toro's vision of the Hulk brought to life, but which of the monsterous comic book characters he mentioned above would you like to see him take on in the future?
