Hungry Hungry Hippos, Action Man and Monopoly Coming to the Big Screen

Movie HasbroMonopoly by Joey Paur

Hasbro is looking to finally get some of their toy and game properties up on the big screen, and they recently signed a deal with an independent production and finance company named Emmett/Furla Films to do it. It's a three picture deal that will include Monopoly, Action Man and Hungry Hungry Hippos

Monopoly will be the first movie to get made, and they hope to start production on it sometime in 2013. Monopoly was previously in production at Universal with Ridley Scott attached to direct and produce. It also had a screenplay written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. There's no word on if that same script will be used or if they will start from scratch.

It's kind of funny to hear that Hungry Hungry Hippos is actually going to be a movie. It's something we've all joked about, but it's being planned as an animated film, which I guess could work. The plans for Action Man remain unspecified. Out of these three Hasbro properties, I'm most excited for Action Man, which is basically the British version of G.I. Joe that was launched as a toy line in the 1960s.

The fact that Battleship bombed at the box office isn't scaring Hasbro away from making more movies. They're still excited, and they are looking to spend less than $100 million on each of the films.

Which of these movie do you think will be the most successful? And which one are you most excited about seeing?
