Disney to Hire Original STAR WARS Scribe to Write New Star Wars Film

Movie DisneyStar Wars by Joey Paur

Disney already hired Michael Arndt to script Star Wars: Episode VII, but it looks like they are already looking to hire two more writers to start working on the next two Star Wars films as well!

According to Deadline the studio has approached scribes Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg to start working on the next two Star Wars projects that are being planned. It makes perfect sense to bring Kasden on board because he scripted two of the original Star Wars movies, The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. He also wrote Raiders Of The Lost Ark for Lucas and Steven Spielberg. As far as Kinsberg's credit go, he worked on X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past, so he seems like a solid choice as well.

It's not clear if they will be working on Episodes 8 and 9 though. Disney plans on making two to three Star Wars movies a year so they might be brought on to work on a Star Wars spin-off project. The report only specifies it being the next two Star Wars films.

I love that they are looking to bring on a Star Wars veteran to write another Star Wars film. This is exciting stuff, and it's going to be so awesome to start seeing stuff from the film once they go into production! Are you excited to hear that Kasdan might come back to the Star Wars franchise?
