MAN OF STEEL - Visualizing Superman for the Modern Day

Zack Snyder has made it very clear that the Superman portrayed in his new film Man of Steel is unlike any Superman we've ever seen on the big screen before. This is a reimagining of the character that I'm looking forward to seeing. As much as I loved the Christopher Reeves movies, the character needs to evolve with the times like Nolan did with Batman. Some purists might not like what they see, but all I can say is, keep an open mind because there's a good chance it could be incredibly awesome.

A new video has popped up online featuring visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri talking about "the importance of tapping into universal sensibilities when bringing Superman to a new generation of viewers." The movie hits theaters in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D on June 14th 2013! Here's the interview....

What are you looking for in a new Superman movie?

The movie stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and more. The new trailer will be released with The Hobbit on December 14th, so stay tuned for that!

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question ‘Why am I here?’ Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.
