Geek Casting: Nick Offerman, Josh Duhamel, and Dan Fogler Land Roles
We have two bits of geek casting news today. Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) has joined Lamb of God. Josh Duhamel (Transformers) and Dan Fogler (Take Me Home Tonight) have been cast in Scenic Route.
Offerman's Ron Swanson is one of my favorite characters on NBC's Parks and Recreation. Offerman will next be seen in the big screen adaptation of 21 Jump Street. Deadline reports that the actor has joined the cast of Diablo Cody's Lamb of God. He wil star opposite Octavia Spencer, Holly Hunter, Russell Brand, and Julianne Hough in the drama directed by Cody. The story centers on "a young evangelical woman who denounces God after a tragic plane crash that left one-third of her body severely burned. Angry, she leaves her parents and church in Washington, D.C. for Las Vegas, where she attempts to re-discover herself."
Deadline also reports that Duhamel and Fogler are set for Scenic Route, a film directed by Kevin and Michael Goetz. Kyle Killen (The Beaver) penned the script that follows "two college buddies who go on a road trip and become stranded in the desert. As they begin to realize they might never be rescued, they begin to have heated fights, both emotionally and physically."
I enjoy Fogler, but I am not a huge fan of Duhamel. Scenic Route sounds like it could be a solid film for them. Offerman is a great character actor, and I would be happy to see him in just about anything. I would love to see him in an action-oriented role where he gets to be a badass. What type of action movie (past or present) would you like to see Nick Offerman in?
