Michael Fassbender Set for Ridley Scott's THE COUNSELOR

Michael Fassbender is set to reteam with Ridley Scott on The Counselor. Earlier we reported that Scott was seeking Fassbender for the lead role in the film, and today it has been confirmed by Deadline. The film is based on Cormac McCarthy's script. Nick Wechsler (The Road) and Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz are producing the film.

According to Deadline, The Counselor takes place in the contemporary Southwest and is "reminiscent of the rough and tumble world depicted in the Oscar-winning adaptation of McCarthy’s novel No Country For Old Men. The protagonist is a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe into the drug business without getting sucked down. It is a bad decision and he tries his best to survive it and get out of a desperate situation."

Scott is currently searcing for the villain to star opposite Fassbender. It is being reported that Jeremy Renner, Bradley Cooper, and possibly even Brad Pitt are being sought for the role. Fassbender seems to like to work with directors more than once. The X-Men: First Class actor has starred in Hunger and Shame for director Steve McQueen, and will next be seen in McQueen's Twelve Years a Slave. I am looking forward to seeing him in Scott's Prometheus

I think this sounds like a perfect role for Fassbender. I loved him in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds. What is your favorite Fassbender role to date?
