Katherine Heigl To Join R-rated Puppet Film THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS

Movie Casting by Joey Paur

Normally, I could care less what Katherine Heigl does these days. I have no interest in pretty much anything she's ever done. Surprisingly, today we've learned that the actress is in final negotiations to star in the Jim Henson Co's R-rated puppet film The Happytime Murders. I honestly never thought she would ever do anything so edgy. This may be the one film Heigl stars in that I actually want to see.

The film takes place in a world where humans and puppets coexist, with the puppets viewed as second-class citizens. When the puppet cast of 1980s children's TV show The Happytime Gang begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced alcoholic LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet takes the case with his former human partner.

The film noir muppet style comedy is being directed by Brian Henson (A Muppets Christmas Carol) from a script written by Todd Berger (Kung Fu Panda 2). The film has been in development at the Henson Co. since 2008, and it cool to see that it's moving forward, even with it's with Heigl.

What are your thoughts on Heigl joining this film production?
