THE EVIL DEAD Remake's New Female Lead Is Jane Levy

Jane Levy, the star of ABC's sitcom Suburgatoryhas been officially cast in the lead female role of the Sam Raimi-produced andFede Alvarez-directed remake ofThe Evil Dead. She will replace Lily Collins who was previously cast in the role but ended up dropping out. I personally think Levy is a great choice. She's not a very well-known actress, but I've enjoyed watching her on the series that she stars in.

The story follows five friends (David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia, and Mia) who hole up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead. A demonic force is unleashed, possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival. Other information on the film reveals that the lead character takes his younger sister to the family's cabin to help her kick her drug addiction. Without her drugs she becomes insane and difficult to control, which makes it impossible to see that she's actually possessed.

According to a previous report David is a mechanic and is engaged to Natalie. Mia is the sister heading to the cabin to detox; Olivia is her best friend/nurse. Eric, presumably, is the kid who unleashes the demons.

Levy is playing Mia, who is basically the female Ash character in this remake. The movie is set to open April 12th, 2013, and I'm looking forward to it!

What do you all think about Levy taking on this role in The Evil Dead?
