THE WOLVERINE Gets a Release Date

20th Century Fox has announced that the James Mangold (Girl Interrupted, Identity, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, and Knight & Day) directed comic book film The Wolverine will be released in theaters on July 26th, 2013. Since the studio has unveiled the release date, the film's production must be back on track.

The story will follow Logan, who starts "a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won't take "no" for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai."

The film is based on the first solo Wolverine mini-series from 1982 by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that sent Logan to Japan in a story involving the ninja clan the Hand. For those of you interested in knowing what Mangold has planned for the movie check out this interview.
