Fantastic Movie Trailer for the Animated Horror Film PARANORMAN

Laika Entertainment has released a wonderful theatrical trailer for their stop-motion kids horror film Paranorman. The film tells the story of a misunderstood boy named Norman (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who can speak with the dead. He takes it upon himself to save his town from a centuries old curse and in the process has to take on ghosts, zombies, witches and grown-ups. Norman will be tested and pushed to his limits.

This looks like a great film, and it's also a movie my kids are really excited about. Some kids want to watch Dora the Explorer, my kids are more into the darker things. They want to watch The Walking Dead, but I wont let them. Their favorite movie is Monster House and they loved Coraline, so this film is right up their ally, and I'll gladly take them to see it.

Here's the full synopsis:

The new 3D stop-motion comedy thriller from animation company LAIKA, reteaming the company with Focus Features after the groundbreaking Academy Award-nominated "Coraline." "ParaNorman" is, following "Coraline," the company's second stop-motion animated feature to be made in 3D. In "ParaNorman," a small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can it call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he'll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

The movie will be in theaters on August 17th, 2012, and also features the voices of Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Tucker Albrizzi, Alex Borstein, Jodelle Ferland, and Elaine Stritch.

Watch the trailer, and tell us if it's something you'll being checking out! Do you have kids? If so do they enjoy movies like this?
