The OTHER TMNT Co-Creator Talks Michael Bay Controversy

Movie Michael Bay by Zack Parks

The TMNT fans war rages on! A week after producer Michael Bay revealed that the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film would change the Turtles' origins to have them turn into "inter-dimensional beings," one of the Turtles' co-creators Peter Laird encouraged fans to keep calm until they saw the film, which he will not be involved with. Interestingly though, Bay had previously issued a statement that one of the co-creators was involved with the film. As it turns out, co-creator Kevin Eastman is involved in the film and issued a statement of his own:

I had been invited to check out the TMNT film development by my friend Scott Mednick over the years, and a while back had a full look behind the curtain at what writers Appelbaum and Nemec, director Liebesman, and producer Bay are doing--and trust me--it IS AWESOME. I'm officially on board, and will share more as I'm allowed... thanks all!

Well, I have to admit, this is a surprise. All of my research indicated that Eastman has previously wanted nothing to do with the Turtles anymore until now. Can't say it changes my disdain for the whole project with Bay connected to it. Are you interested in the movie now that both creators have spoken?
