Chloë Moretz Lands Lead in Remake of Stephen King's CARRIE

Yesterday it was revealed that Hugo co-star Chloe Moretz was at the top of a list of young actresses to take on the lead role in the remake of Stephen King's 1974 novel Carrie. Today, it's being reported that Moretz was officially offered the role and that she's officially accepted, which is pretty cool. I think Moretz is a great actress and will be able to bring a creepy intensity to this young female character.

The movie is being directed by Kim Peirce from a script was written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Apparently it will be more faithful to King's book and more grounded than Brian De Palma's classic film.

The story centers on a misunderstood teenage girl named Carrie White, her extraordinary telekinetic powers, and her violent rampage of bloody revenge. It doesn't help that she is raised by an insane religious fanatic of a mother. There's an underlying lesson to be learned from the story... don't bully people with telekinetic powers because they will get their revenge.

Moretz will next be seen in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows. Do you think Moretz has the chops to take on this disturbing role?
