Kevin Smith Interested in CLERKS III on Broadway

Movie Kevin Smith by Zack Parks

A week ago, Kevin Smith announced plans to bring back the short-lived Clerks: The Animated Series. At the time, most assumed it was Smith's way of keeping the characters alive without having to make a Clerks III, as Smith has announced his retirement from directing after he finishes the two-part Hit Somebody films. Smith said previously, "There’s possibly a Clerks 3. If I have something to say in my late 40s about being in my late 40s, I’ll think of [Clerks'] Dante and Randal." However, it seems Smith has a surprising develoment for Dante and Randal up his sleeve - taking them from the Video Stop of New Jersey to the Great White Way itself!

Smith says he doesn't want to make the play a musical, but rather write it as a 90-minute one-act play that would run for only 6 months. The only person that Smith has to convince to make the play is reportedly Jeff Anderson (Randal); Brian O'Halloran (Dante) has not been mentioned. According to Smith, Anderson has laughed off the idea. This is certainly unexpected, but if Smith can pull it off, I'd certainly be interested. Truth be told, I'm more excited to see the return of Clerks: The Animated Series. Would you like to see Clerks on Broadway?
