Emily Blunt to Join Tom Cruise in ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

It looks like director Doug Liman has found his female lead in the upcoming sci-fi film All You Need is Kill. Warner Bros. is in talks with Emily Blunt to take on a co-starring role in the movie opposite Tom Cruise.

The movie is an adaptation of Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and it's been described as a sci-fi version of

Goundhog Day

.  The story follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in the battle over and over again after being killed. Because of this, he's able to become a better soldier. 

Here's the description of the story:

There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?

Variety reports Blunt plays another soldier who fights alongside Cruise. Blunt is a great actress, and if this deal officially goes down, I have no doubt that she'll be awesome! She'll be seen later this year in Rian Johnson's badass looking sci-fi film Looper. 

All You Need is Kill sounds like it will be an incredible movie that many of us will enjoy watching. I'm excited to see how it turns out visually.  What do you think of Blunt as an actress?
