James Bond Will Help Open The London Summer Olympics?

UPDATE: We've been told that this is merely another April Fools' joke that got way out of control. Our sincerest apologies.

The world's greatest secret agent celebrates his 50th anniversary this year. Agent 007 has a brand new movie, Skyfall, coming out in November, but now he has just been assigned a special mission ordered straight from the Queen herself! Literally!

Queen Elizabeth herself asked James Bond actor Daniel Craig and Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) to create a brand-new short film, titled "The Arrival", featuring Bond being asked to start the 2012 London Summer Olympics. Craig and Boyle were given "unprecedented access to [Buckingham Palace] and its private rooms". The short will be shown on July 27th during BBC's coverage of the games, though it is expected to premiere online before then. The Queen is no stranger to embracing pop culture, having recently been "attacked" by a Dalek from Doctor Who. This wasn't the first movie-based tie-in that the 2012 Olympics were involved with - before it was canceled by Disney, Robert Zemeckis had planned to have his performance-capture remake of Yellow Submarine out in time to be promoted by the London Summer Olympics. I think that having Bond starting off the Olympics will be very fun to watch; he's certainly gone for the gold several times before (Goldfinger, The Man with the Golden Gun and GoldenEye). Will Bond save the Olympics?
