Max Landis talks about CHRONICLE Sequel

In a recent interview with screenwriter Max Landis, he talked about the sequel he's writing to the found footage superhero film Chronicle. He reveals that all of that footage that the teenagers shot made it out to the public, and there's no hiding what went on in the first movie.

The movie you saw (Chronicle) in the sequel is a thing. That edited footage is a thing. So it’s not like ‘we found this footage after this kids died’. You can’t deny cars being thrown in the air in Seattle. You saw all those helicopters. The world changed. That’s the end of Chronicle. And things are going to be different now. They can’t possibly cover up what happened.

It doesn't sound like Josh Tank will be back to direct the sequel. He's got a couple other gigs right now to focus on such as; possibly the Fantastic Four reboot, and he's also attached to direct The Red Star. Landis confirms saying,

Josh is all over the place with other projects. I’m also all over the place with other projects, but Chronicle is really my baby. Josh will probably be involved in some respect but right now I just want to get the script done.

The writer then goes on to reveal that Matt (Alex Russell) will return for the sequel, and talks a bit about where he will take the character in the story.

I loved Matt, and I felt really bad for him because I understood just how emotionally lazy he is and how he doesn’t really do what he’s doing. And that’s why I’m putting him through hell in (Chronicle) 2.

Landis then tells us what Chronicle 2 will be about... "the world’s first supervillain".

I enjoyed Chronicle, I know it had some issues, but in the end it was entertaining. I'm looking foward to seeing where Landis ends up doing with the sequel. Did you like the first film enough to get excited about seeing a sequel?
