Cameron Diaz Joins Ridley Scott's THE COUNSELOR
The cast of Ridley Scott's next film just got a downgrade (in my opinion). Deadline reports that Cameron Diaz is in final talks to join the cast of The Counselor. She would star alongside Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.
Diaz will play a supporting role named Malkina. Fassbender plays the title role of "a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe into the drug business without getting sucked down, which proves to be a life-threatening decision."
The drama is based on an original script by author Cormac McCarthy. Instead of turning in a new novel, as expected, he presented his first script. Nick Wechsler and Chockstone’s Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz (producers of The Road) bought it preemptively. The project is being described as "No Country For Old Men on steroids."
Diaz has not been in a good movie since There's Something About Mary. She recently starred in Bad Teacher, and will next be seen in the chick flick, What To Expect When You’re Expecting. Thankfully Diaz is only appearing in a supporting role. With Fassbender, Pitt and Bardem starring in a story by McCarthy, which is directed by Scott, this film is going to be amazing.
