PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS Finds A Screenwriter

Movie Peter PanDisney by

Walt Disney Pictures is adapting the best-selling children's novel, Peter and the Starcatchers. The project will bring Peter Pan's backstory to life on the big screen. Deadline reports that they have hired Jesse Wigutow to pen the script based on the 2004 book published by Disney’s Hyperion.

Dave Barry and Ridley Pierson wrote the novel, that has already been made into a Tony Award-nominated Broadway production. As you might expect the novel is the first in a series, which means there is a chance for a franchise.

Wigutow’s been busy adapting the Robert Ludlum thriller Osterman Weekend, which has Brian Kirk directing for Summit, The Crow for F. Javier Gutierrez directing at Relativity Media, and the Steve McQueen biopic at Cross Creek. These projects, with the exception of Crow, make me interested in Wigutow's take on the story.

Have you read this book? Do you think it will make a good movie?
