Tom Cruise Joins THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN Remake

Movie Tom Cruise by Joey Paur

MGM has got a few remakes in the works such as RoboCop and Carrie, we can now add another remake to that list. The studio is looking to remake the awesome 1960's classic western, The Magnificent Seven with Tom Cruise set to star.

The studio is currently on the hunt for a writer and director, and the film wont go into production anytime soon. It's eventually going to happen, but it doesn't seem like there's any rush to get it into production. After All Cruise is crazy busy with a bunch of other movies he's attached to.

The Magnificent Seven is one of my favorite western films of all time. It's hard to imagine or get excited about a remake though. Of course I'll end up seeing it though because I watch everything. It will be interesting to see who they end up bringing on to direct the movie, but with cruise on board I'm sure they;ll surround him with a talented cast and crew. Hell, he''l probably be the one picking everyone he wants to work with on it. If you go off of directors that Cruise has worked with in the past, it would be really cool to see either J.J. Abrams or Brad Bird take on a western like this.

The original film starred an all-star cast for its day that included Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Robert Vaughn, Brad Dexter, and Horst Buchholz. The story follows a group of American gunmen who are hired to protect a small Mexican village from a group of savage bandits, led by Eli Wallach.

Cruise will next appear in the musical Rock of Ages, and an adaptation of Lee Child's thriller novel One Shot. He's currently shooting Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion, and then will move on to star in Doug Liman's WB sci-fi action film All You Need Is Kill. He's also attached to star in Universal's reboot of Van Helsing and his Tropic Thunder Les Grossman spin-off film. He's also looking at jumping on board Paramount's Top Gun 2, and Clint Eastwood wants him to star opposite Beyonce in the musical A Star Is Born.

As you can see Cruise is one hell of a busy guy. I'm surprised he has room to breath with everything he has going on! What do you think of Cruise starring in a remake of The Magnificent Seven?
