That STAR WARS TV Show is Still Coming
Don't give up on that Star Wars TV show just yet! Producer Rick McCallum showed up at Kapow! in London this weekend, and revealed to IGN that the show is still coming. He also talked about a Boba Fett movie that will most likely never happen, and a few other little things.
As far as the TV show is concerned 50 scripts have been written and are ready to go. The reason for the hold up is the technology. It's just too expensive right now to develop the shows for TV, as they want the special effects to be just as good as the movies. They are basically waiting around for the tech to get a little more affordable. What's affordable to them you ask? $4-5 million per episode... holy shit! That's going to be one expensive TV series.
It was also previously reported that the name of the series would be called Star Wars: Underworld. He says that the show takes places in the Underworld of Coruscant between Episodes III and IV, and in a previous interview said,
Basically, it is like The Godfather; it’s the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it’s a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution.
This show is going to be a long ways off, but at least we know that it will happen one day, so it gives us Star Wars fans something to look forward to seeing, because I don't think we'll ever see any new Star Wars movies.
