Simon Pegg Insists That Benedict Cumberbatch Is Not Khan in STAR TREK 2

After we thought we had confirmation that Benedict Cumberbatch was playing Khan in Star Trek 2Simon Pegg has now come out and completely denying it. In a recent interview with UK Telegraph he was asked about Cumberbatch's villainous role in the film, and here's how he responded,

Pegg is full of praise for Cumberbatch’s baddy, whom he describes [as] “not just another disgruntled alien. It’s a really interesting… sort of… thing,” he squirms. “Obviously I can’t talk about it.” While not wanting to get specific, Pegg did flatly deny reports and rumors that Cumberbatch is playing Khan…

“It’s not Khan,” replies Pegg, annoyed. “That’s a myth. Everyone’s saying it is, but it’s not.”

What we once believed to be true is no no longer true. So we're back to the drawing board. Cumberbatch is playing a villain, and we are back to not knowing who that villain is, which is fine! Do we really want to know who it is anyway? Of course there's always the possibility that Pegg is trying to throw us all off and make us second guess ourselves! Damn the internet and its non confirming confirmations! Pegg is not a big fan when is comes to spoilers and plot leaks, he says,

It masquerades as interest in the movie but really it’s just nosiness and impatience. You just want to say, ‘Oh f— off! Wait for the film!’

What do you all think about what Pegg has to say here? Do you think he's telling the truth or trying to throw out some misdirection? He could have easily just said he couldn't comment on the matter, which leads me believe he's telling the truth, because he didn't have to say anything.
