Plot Details for Eli Roth's Return to Horror THE GREEN INFERNO

Movie Eli Roth by Ben Pearson

Hostel director Eli Roth has been noticeably absent in the cinematic landscape over the past few years, but he's about to make his return to the director's chair for a horror project called The Green Inferno.

Variety reports that the film "follows an idealistic student and a group of naive do-gooders who are captured by cannibalistic Indios after their plane crash lands in the Peruvian jungle." It's based on the 1980 Italian movie Cannibal Holocaustand its sequel, the first being a precursor to the now-popular found footage genre and banned in several countries because of its depiction of extremely graphic sexual assaults, violent beatings, and animal cruelty. Leave it to Eli Roth to pick up where these filmmakers left off.

Roth has been writing, producing, and even acting over the past few years, and even though I'm not personally a fan of the Hostel series, it will be interesting to see him making movies again. What's your favorite project that Roth has worked on so far? Are you interested in The Green Inferno?
