Trailer for KILLER JOE with Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch

This is the trailer for an NC-17 rated film called Killer Joe, which has a impressive cast of actors that includes Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, and Thomas Haden Church. The movie was directed by William Friedkin (The Exorcist), and it looks like it could be pretty good. I'm normally not a fan of McConaughey, but it looks like this movie plays to his strengths.

The story is a thriller that follows a young man who hires someone to kill his mom. The hitman wants his money up front, but Hirsch can't pay him, which causes some intense issues involving the guy's sister. This has got to be one hell of a hardcore intense film to get an NC-17 rating. It doesn't look like it got that rating for the sex. Apparently, if they wanted to get a R-rating the studio would have had to change the ending, but they wanted to support the artistic integrity of the filmmakers, so they didn't make the change.

Here's the Synopsis:

When 22-year-old Chris (Emile Hirsch) finds himself in debt to a drug lord, he hires a hit man to dispatch his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy benefits his sister Dottie (Juno Temple). Chris finds Joe Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a creepy, crazy Dallas cop who moonlights as a contract killer. When Chris can't pay Joe upfront, Joe sets his sight on Dottie as collateral for the job. The contract killer and his hostage develop an unusual bond. Like from a modern-day, twisted fairy tale, "Killer Joe" Cooper becomes the prince to Dottie's Cinderella. Based on the play by Pulitzer and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts, "Killer Joe" is a garish, proactive black comedy from Academy Award-winning director William Friedkin (The Exorcist, The French Connection) and stars Emile Hirsch, Matthew McConaughey, Juno Temple, Thomas Hayden Church, and Gina Gershon.

The deep fried redneck thriller comes out on July 27th, will you be watching it?
