NINJA TURTLE Reboot Temporarily Shut Down and Delayed

Paramount Pictures has temporarily shut down production on the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle reboot! The effects heavy feature film was supposed to be released in December of 2013, but the studio has pushed that date back to May of 2014... if it ends up happening.

According to THR the cancellation was due to script issues, which Paramount has plenty of experience with. Both G.I. Joe: Retaliation and World War Z have had big issues with the script. My question is why are the studios putting these movies into production without a completed solid script? It's kind of the most important part of making a movie, I'm surprised the studios haven't learned that yet.

A studio source says that the preproduction staff have been laid off and informed that the work stoppage is indefinite. Sources also say the movie has been pushed by ten weeks.

Jonathan Liebesman (Wrath of the Titans) is set to direct the film from a script written by Kevin Eastman and Andre Nemec. There's always the chance the movie won't find its way back into production, but the fact that it's the Ninja Turtles, I'm sure they'll find a way to bring it back to the big screen.

I grew up on this franchise, and I was interested in seeing what they would do with it. But if it didn't happen I'm not going to cry over it, especially with the changes they made to the origin story... changing the ninja turtles into aliens instead of mutants. Were you excited about seeing this movie get made?
