HERMAN MUNSTER Will Be Played by Jerry O’Connell

TV by Joey Paur

Jerry O'Connell hasn't really been doing much these days--at least, I haven't noticed him in anything. No matter what he does though, he'll always be Vern to me. He's just been cast as Herman Munster in NBC and Bryan Fuller's (Pushing Daisies) new series Mockingbird Lane. He'll join the previously cast Eddie Izzard and Charity Wakefield. I guess I can see O'Connell in this role, it will be easier to digest once we see him actually in it. It's also been announced that Mariana Klaveno has been cast as Lily Munster.

Bryan Singer will be directing the pilot episode which is a reinvention of the 1960s sitcom called The Munsters. The story follows a family of monsters that consists of vampires, werewolves, and Frankenstein, and their normal cousin (Wakefield). "O’Connell will play family patriarch, the handsome and gangly Herman Munster,  a great dad and devoted husband. He is married to Lily, a vampire, with whom he has fathered a 10-year-old boy, Eddie (Mason Cook). Strong but sentimental, Herman works at a funeral home, and worries that Eddie’s transformation into a werewolf and burgeoning awareness of his family’s origins will crush the boy’s spirit."

Since Fuller is behind the project, the series is sure to include some great visuals and cinematography. I loved the work he did on ABC's Pushing Daisies, and I hope he brings that polish to this new series. What do you think about O'Connell playing Herman Munster in this new series?
