FANTASTIC FOUR and OUIJA have New Screenwriters

Fox is looking to get rolling on their Fantastic Four reboot, set to be directed by Chronicle director Josh Trank. The studio has officially hired Jeremy Slater to write the script. According to THRSlater is an up-and-coming writer who wrote the horror spec Tape 4, which is set up at Lionsgate. The story centers around the mythology of writer H.P. Lovecraft

Fox is hoping that this team will be able to produce a better Fantastic Four film than the previous two they developed. I just hope we don't see another damn origin story, because I'm kind of getting sick and tired of origin stories. They could make a great film with the characters already established.

The characters were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and are a family of heroes that includes scientist Mr. Fantastic, his wife Invisible Girl, her brother the Human Torch, and Fantastic’s best friend, The Thing.

According to Variety, Universal Pictures has hired Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to write the big screen adaptation of the Hasbro board game and Devil worshiping tool... Ouija. The supernatural adventure was originally scripted by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Simon Kinberg came in for a rewrite last year, and shortly after, Marti Noxon came on board to do another rewrite. As you can see, the studio can't seem to get what they want from all of these writers.

The low-budget horror film is set to be released sometime in 2013. McG was attached to the film project early on, and it would have had a $100 million production. The new budget on the film is around $5 million. I find that these low budget horror movies are a lot better than the big budget horror films. Do you agree or disagree with that assessment?
