HORRIBLE BOSSES Director to take on PIXELS for Happy Madison

Movie Seth Gordon by Joey Paur

There's been a few changes to the big screen adaptation of the fan-made internet short film Pixels. Sony Pictures and Andam Sandler's Happy Madison have hired Tim Dowling (Just Go With It) to rewrite the script for the film, which was previously worked on by Saturday Night Live writing Alumni Tim Herlihy. Then The King of Kong and Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon was bought on board as an executive producer. The director of the original short Patrick Jean, is still attached to direct, with Sandler as the star.

Gordon was hired because of his experience working with veteran gamers on King of Kong, and the heroes in the story will be video game experts who are recruited by the government to help deal with the Pixel threat. The other reason for the changes is because the studio is looking to turn this into a big tentpole sized action-comedy. They basically want to make it bigger and give it more of an epic scope.

The film tells the story of New York City coming under attack by an army of classic 1980's video game arcade characters. The film was previously described as a Ghostbusters-style action comedy in which characters come out of a video game to wreak havoc in the real world.

This has the potential to be a great action comedy, and it looks like they're bringing in the right people to develop it. Check out the short, and let us know if you're excited about this movie being turned into a feature film!
