Tom Cruise's ALL YOU NEED IS KILL Got Its Green Light

Warner Bros. has finally officially given their epic sci-fi project All You Need is Kill a green light! The movie is being directed by Doug Liman (Swingers, The Bourne Identity, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith), and stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. According to Deadline, Cruise is in London, and has been prepping for the film since last Friday. The actor recently just wrapped Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion.

The movie is an adaptation of Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, and it sounds like an awesome sci-fi version of Goundhog Day.  The story follows a soldier in a war against aliens who finds himself reliving his last day in the battle over and over again after being killed. Because of this, he's able to become a better soldier. Cruise takes on the lead role and Blunt plays another soldier who fights alongside him.

I'm happy to hear that the movie is finally going into production. I was hoping this one would get made, I think it going to be one of those incredibly fun moviegoing experiences.

Here's the story description:

There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?
