New DEXTER Season 7 Trailer and Will We See a 9th Season!?

TVTrailer Dexter by Joey Paur

Dexter returns for its seventh season on Sunday, September 30 at 9 PM ET/PT on Showtime. I can't wait to see where they take these character next season and how they handle what happened at the end of season 6. The network has released a new promo trailer for the series, and it looks like we might end up seeing a ninth season!

Producer Sara Colleton had this to say in a previous interview:

We wanted to end it this year, but the network convinced us that it would be best to do it in two years. In some ways, this is a two-season series-ender. We have worked that out and know where it's going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of Dexter. Absolutely.

But in a recent interview with TV Guide, Showtime president David Nevins says the network is leaving the door open for that possibility. Nevin explains that the possibility of doing a ninth season came out of some of the upcoming season's "game-changing" storylines. There's no official decision yet, but it could happen, and I wouldn't complain if it did!

Colleton went on to explain Dexter's focus in the upcoming season,

It is about things he's never experienced before, which are regret, responsibility, shame, betrayal, all of those things. Also, it's the flip side of wanting to be known, and then once you are known, there's a loss of freedom. It comes with heavy responsibility, so he's dealing with a lot of emotions that he's never had before, and never been allowed to feel before or allowed himself to feel before.

Check out the latest promo spot and stay tuned for more Dexter news as it becomes available! What do you think about the possibility of of seeing a ninth season of Dexter?
