Philip Seymour Hoffman Officially Joins CATCHING FIRE

Not long ago we heard that Philip Symour Hoffman was offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Today, it's being reported that he's been officially cast in the film! Heavensbee is the Head Gamemaker who ends up taking the place of Seneca Crane, played by Wes Bentley in the first film. Hoffman is a wonderfully talented actor who makes every movie that he's in that much more awesome.

So now that it's official, what do you think about Hoffman playing this character?

Here's the story description for Catching Fire:

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

Here's a more detailed description of the character, but be warned... it contains spoilers:

Plutarch works as a Head Gamemaker, but is also a leader for the underground rebellion of District 13. He is only revealed to be part of the rebellion in the end of Catching Fire when he reveals that they are heading to District 13, a district believed to have been destroyed when the first rebellion took place. In District 13, he is head of propaganda and makes videos of Katniss as the Mockingjay.
