Trailer for Studio Ghibli's Animated Film FROM UP ON POPPY HILL

Studio Ghibli has created yet another beautiful looking animated feature called From Up On Poppy Hill. The movie was directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son Goro Miyazaki, and unfortunately like most of these animated films from Japan, we in the States will have to wait another year or two before we can see it on the big screen. This story doesn't really include a lot of crazy visuals like we're used to seeing from the animation studio. This one is actually a pretty straight forward love story that takes place a year before the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

Here's the Synopsis:

Set in Yokohama, From Up On Poppy Hill is a high school love story that take place in the year before the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics. As the country begins to pick itself up from the devastation of the Second World War, the new generation struggles to move towards a prosperous future whilst trying not to lose the essence of their past. The film's rich and vibrant animation captures the entrancing beauty of Yokohama's harbour and lush surrounding hillsides and, with a soundtrack that draws inspiration from the finest music of the time, perfectly captures the thrills of young romance and the hope of a new dawn.

From Up On Poppy Hill looks like solidly charming film. Enjoy the trailer!
