David Lean's LAWRENCE OF ARABIA Returns to Theaters in 4K

If you've been waiting to see Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen, this is probably the best news you could have hoped for. Empire reports that David Lean's Oscar-winning epic is heading back to theaters in 4K projection. The 227 minute director's cut will come to screens in the U.S. on October 4th to celebrate the film's 50th anniversary, as well as appear on TCM and then move to Blu-ray in November.

We talked about this film on an early episode of The Not Just New Movies Podcast, and I wonder if I had seen it on a big screen in a proper venue like this, if my opinions on the film would be a bit different. It's a long movie to be sure, but there's a craftsmanship and a visual opulence that just isn't there in modern cinema, so it's worth a view just to get an education on what great films used to look like back in the 1960s.
