Benedict Cumberbatch Rumored to Be Next Bond Villain

Earlier this month we learned that Daniel Craig had signed up for two more James Bond films, and that EON productions has already started getting screenwriting contracts ready for those next two Bond movies. They are aiming to get the twenty-fourth Bond film out in theaters by 2014, and it's never too early to start thinking about who they want to take on the role of the villain.

According to an inside source for express.uk, producers are looking to lock down Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch as the villain in Bond 24! How awesome is that?!... if it's true of course. Here's what the source told the site...

Benedict is considered perfect Bond villain material. Work on the next film will begin next year and the plan is for Benedict to be on board. He grew up watching Bond, so it would be a childhood ambition fulfilled. Playing a Bond villain is one of the plum roles in film history and he'd jump at the chance.

There's no confirmation of this rumor, but I can easily see Cumberbatch as a Bond villain. It's an inspired choice, and I'd love to see it happen! This won't be the first villain Cumberbatch has played, as you know the actor is playing the villain in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel, as well as Smaug in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. He's an incredible actor, and I would love for this to all be true.

If the actor does end up in the role of the villain in Bond 24, it will be great to see what kind of villain he ends up playing. Are you excited about the possibility of the actor playing a Bond villain?
