Alfonso Cuarón's Sci-Fi Film GRAVITY Has a Release Date

Alfonso Cuarón’s long awaited sci-fi film Gravity finally gets a release date! The movie has been described as being Castaway in space, and it has a great cast that includes George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Warner Bros. set the film to be released on October 4th, 2013. The movie sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome, if you're not familiar with it here's the synopsis,

Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (Clooney) in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone--tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness.

The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.

But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
Cuarón also worked on the films Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Children of Men. It's been six years since he made his last film, let's see if it was worth the wait.  The October 4th release puts the film up against Vince Vaughn's new comedy Delivery Man, Relativity Media's thriller Paranoia, the 3-D re-release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
