Paul Giamatti to Play The Rhino in SPIDER-MAN 2!

Movie Paul Giamatti by Joey Paur

It looks like The Rhino will join Electro as one of the villains taking on Spider-Man in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2! According to THR ,Paul Giamatti is in talks to play the character, which seems like awesome casting! They also reveal that Felicity Jones is also in talks to join the film in an unspecified role.

This movie is sure pulling in a hell of a great cast! If they officially join the movie they will star alongside Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Electro, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, and Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborne. What's cool about this latest casting news is that Giamatti is a huge fan of The Rhino. In a previous interview with ShowbizSpy he said,

I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit and I always thought, ‘Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies,’ but maybe The Rhino wasn’t that big of a deal for anybody but me...If they ever go with The Rhino I would be ready and waiting.

It looks like he won't have to wait much longer! It's pretty cool that he'll have the opportunity to play one of his favorite comic characters. I think he'll be awesome as The Rhino! What about you?

The Rhino first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #41 in 1966 as a thug from a Soviet Block country who wore a superhuman suit with a horn that made him invulnerable while giving him super-strength and super-speed. Here's a little more detail for Marvel Wiki...

Aleksei Sytsevich was just another thug in the Russian Mafia, grasping at dreams of easy money, and headed for a short brutal life. Seduced by promises of wealth and power, Aleksei underwent a life-threatening series of chemical and radiation treatments to transform him after several months into the superhumanly strong agent for a collective of professional spies - in part, to support his family. Aleksei's powerful armor permanently bonded to his form, was modeled after the hide of a rhinoceros. Two scientists named Igor and Georgi chose this form, both for its visual impact and in recognition of the fact that the rhino is the result of countless generations of evolution towards the ultimate form for armored assault. They selected Aleksei for his muscular physique and low intelligence, which they believed would insure his loyalty.
