In the 25 seasons that The Simpson's has been around they've only killed off two characters--Homer's Las Vegas wife, Amber, in season 16 and Ned's wife, Maude Flanders, in season 11. Now, according to executive producer Al Jean, they are planning to kill off another character. He says that writers are "working on a script where a character will pass away." They don't reveal who it will be, but he does say,

"We are doing this story for the same reason we do all others -- we think it has a good emotional through line. The story will be produced this year though it may air in season 26."

He then hinted at who it might be, saying "the actor playing the character won an Emmy" for the role. Basically by killing off a character they are hoping it will boost ratings, so I imagine it's going to be a pretty big character in the show. Jean says he hopes that it will bring "Breaking Bad-type numbers."

The episode will most likely air sometime in mid to late 2014. Who do you think they would kill off in the series?  Who would you want to see die?
