New TOMB RAIDER Movie Is Inspired By The New Video Game

Movie Tomb Raider by Joey Paur

Last year it was announced that the Tomb Raider movie franchise was going to get a reboot. As a fan of the video game franchise, I'm looking forward to seeing some new movies. The first movies were ok, but they didn't blow me away. It would be great to see something a little more gritty and badass, and it looks like that's what we are going to get! According to Variety, the proposed Tomb Raider movie reboot is going to be in line with the latest game, and the game looks awesome! The movie is being developed by GK Films with Crystal Dynamics, and studio head Darrell Gallagher, had this to say,

They are working from this new take that we’ve given them. It’s a good partnership. We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens. It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise. We didn’t want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old ‘Tomb Raider’ films.

Right now Iron Man screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are writing the script for the movie, which is being produced by Graham King who said the film... really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece. It does have a lot of really great characters, but it's a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it's something very different. I've not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we're going to give it a shot.

The new game comes out soon, and it looks great. From what I've seen of it, I think it will make for a great new movie franchise! Who would you like to see play the new Lora Croft?
