I thought the Sam Raimi-produced Ole Bornedal-directed horror film The Possession was ok, but it wasn't as scary or good as the actual true story behind the cursed Dibbuk Box. That movie should have been a lot better, but whether you liked it or not, it looks like we are going to see a sequel.
The news comes from Bloody-Disgusting who says "they don’t even have a writer attached yet. To say we’re breaking this news early is an understatement. But rest assured, The Possession 2 is coming."
The first film is based on a true story but obviously the movie made a few things up along the way. The movie followed "Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host."
It wouldn't be hard to make a sequel, for those of you not familiar with the true story, the Dibbuk Box passed through the hands of several different individuals, so I imagine the sequel will have a completely different cast. I guess we'll have to wait and see!
Did you think the first movie was good or scary? Are you excited about the possibility of a sequel?
