Downton Abbey's Lily James Cast as Disney's CINDERELLA

Disney has announced that Downton Abbey actress Lily James has been cast as Cinderella in Disney's upcoming live-action re-imagining of the classic fairytale. The film is being directed by Kenneth Branagh and James will join Cate Blanchett who was previously cast in the role of the evil manipulative stepmother.

Emma Watson was considered for the role at one point, but she ended up not taking it. I think James seems like the perfect young actress for the role. The script for the film was written by Chris Weitz and Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada).

There's some solid talent attached to this project, and it will be interesting to see how it turns out. The studio is also developing a live action version of Beauty and the Beast, which is being written by Trance scribe Joe Ahearne.

Do you think James is a good choice to play Cinderella?
