Directors In Consideration for BOND 24
Sony Pictures is on the hunt for a director to take on the 24th James Bond movie, and some names in consideration have leaked. There's no confirmation that any of these people are actually being considered, but they make sense.
First we have the director of Drive and Only God Forgives, Nicolas Winding Refn. This news comes from Firstshowing who interviewed Refn at Cannes. The director was asked about a rumor of him possibly being up for the gig, and he didn't confirm or deny the rumor. He just smiled and said he loves James Bond. That led to speculation that he is actually in the running. If he is I think he'd be a great fit for the franchise!
Then Variety is reporting that Sony Pictures is also looking at Ang Lee, Tom Hooper, David Yates, and Shane Black. All are really talented directors, but out of this list I don't think Hooper has what it takes. Les Miserables was good, but it should have been more epic. I'm not sure Hooper can do epic, and that's what Bond needs to be. Yates, Shane, and Lee all have proved that they can tackle this iconic character.
These are just a few of many directors that the studio is considering. My top choice out of this list is Refn, who's your number one choice?
