Glenn Close Joining GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

Here's a bit of surprising and cool casting news. Glenn Close is going to be joining James Gunn's Marvel sci-fi space adventure Guardians of the Galaxy! According to the report she will be taking on a major part in the film. Her character wasn't revealed but she is an a leadership position with Nova Corp, the intergalactic space patrol.

Close is an amazing actress, and I'm just as surprised by this news as I was when Robert Redford joined Captain America: Winter Soldier. It's pretty cool to see these legendary actors taking on roles in movies like this.

It was previously rumored that John C. Reilly was up for a role in the movie as well. The character he would be playing is an Agent Coulson type character in the "Guardians" universe. It's been described as a "human agent who serves as a go-between, keeping the Guardians in line and reporting to SHIELD about their activities."

There's no confirmation of his casting other than Deadline mentioning Reilly's name in passing as an actor that's already been cast. But the site also describes Close's character as being "the closest thing to the one that Samuel L. Jackson plays in Marvel’s Avengers movie." That sounds a lot like the role Reilly's character was up for. So who knows what's going on, but it definitely sounds like Close is going to be in the movie regardless. There's a little confusion, but I'm sure it will be cleared up in the near future.

The film starts production in a month, and the rest of the cast includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, and Michael Rooker. I'm sure more names will be coming soon. I can't wait to see who they end up getting to play Rocket Raccoon.
