Karen Gillan's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Villain Role Revealed?

Movie by Joey Paur

Not long ago it was reported that Doctor Who's Karen Gillan was cast in the role of a villain in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. It wasn't revealed whom she would be playing, but today a rumor has hit the net giving us a strong possibility of who she might be playing in the James Gunn-directed film.

Thanks to a Glasgow, Scotland newspaper clipping via the NeoGAF forums, we've learned that Gillan might be playing a character named Angela, "a flame-haired, sword-wielding, bounty hunter." The report goes on to say "Karen will be stunning as the chief female villain of the movie."

What's interesting about this character is she hasn't even appeared in a Marvel comic yet. She was a creation of Neil Gaiman, and was originally a character in Todd McFarlane's Spawn, but when Gaiman came over to Marvel he took the character with him. She's set to be introduced to the Marvel Universe in Age of Ultron later this year, she will also appear in some issues of the relaunched Guardians of the Galaxy series.

I guess there's a strong possibility that this rumor could be true, but we'll just have to wait and see. I hope it's true. It would be cool to see this badass female character introduced in the Marvel cinematic universe.

The paper clipping also says that "she will have her work cut out as the role involves a lot of physical workouts and with a costume as revealing, she will have to be in top shape." I can't wait to see what she ends up looking like if this is true!

Here's the clipping:
